These Dataset License and Use Terms apply to structured datasets, data catalogs, entity records, indexes, graphs, schemas, downloadable collections, live data feeds and time-series distributions published by Hormuz Group.

By accessing, downloading, querying or using a covered dataset, you agree to these terms.

1. Scope

These terms apply to datasets and machine-readable resources published through:

• the Hormuz Group Data Catalog;
• Hormuz dataset landing pages;
• Hormuz REST API endpoints;
• JSON, JSONL and other downloadable distributions;
• entity, relationship and search indexes;
• live and historical market-data files.

The canonical HTML landing page identified for each dataset is the authoritative documentation and citation page for that dataset.

These terms do not automatically apply to third-party materials, source documents, quotations, trademarks, photographs or other content for which Hormuz Group does not control the relevant rights.

2. Permitted Uses

Subject to these terms, you may:

• access, search and inspect publicly available Hormuz datasets;
• use limited portions of the data for research, journalism, education, internal business analysis and commercial orientation;
• quote individual facts or records with appropriate attribution;
• create analyses, visualisations, summaries and derived findings that do not reproduce or substitute for a substantial part of a Hormuz dataset;
• use the datasets for retrieval, indexing, search, citation and retrieval-augmented generation;
• link to canonical Hormuz dataset pages and individual public records.

No separate permission is required for these permitted uses.

3. Attribution

Public use of Hormuz data must include clear attribution to Hormuz Group.

Recommended attribution:

Where technically practical, attribution should include a clickable link to the canonical dataset landing page rather than directly to a JSON or downloadable distribution.

Attribution must not imply that Hormuz Group endorses the user, publication, product, analysis or conclusion.

4. Uses Requiring Prior Written Permission

Prior written permission from Hormuz Group is required to:

• republish, redistribute or mirror a complete dataset or a substantial part of one;
• sell, sublicense or commercially distribute Hormuz datasets;
• incorporate substantial portions of the data into a commercial database, directory, intelligence platform or subscription product;
• systematically extract records in order to recreate, replace or compete with a Hormuz dataset or service;
• provide bulk access to Hormuz data through another API, download service or data feed;
• use Hormuz datasets to train or fine-tune a general-purpose or commercial machine-learning model;
• remove or conceal attribution, provenance, confidence, verification or update fields;
• represent Hormuz data as independently collected or originally produced by another party.

5. Automated and AI Use

Automated systems may access public resources for reasonable retrieval, indexing, summarisation, citation and research purposes, provided that they:

• respect published access controls, robots directives and reasonable rate limits;
• identify the canonical source when presenting Hormuz-derived information;
• preserve material qualifications such as verification_status, data_confidence, last_updated, timestamps, units and available source fields;
• do not use automated extraction to reconstruct or redistribute a substantial portion of a dataset;
• do not misrepresent uncertain, estimated or time-sensitive data as verified fact.

Use for model training, fine-tuning, dataset replication or creation of a substitutive commercial data product requires prior written permission.

6. Live and Time-Series Data

Exchange rates, market references, listed-market indicators, industry metrics and other time-sensitive datasets may change after publication.

Users must preserve and disclose, where relevant:

• the observation date and time;
• the reported unit and currency;
• whether the value is estimated, calculated or directly observed;
• available provenance and source information;
• any verification or confidence designation.

A current value must not be presented as applicable to a different historical period without an appropriate qualification.

7. Third-Party Sources and Rights

Some Hormuz datasets contain facts, references or indicators derived from public, licensed or third-party sources.

Hormuz Group does not grant rights in third-party materials beyond the rights it is legally able to provide. Users remain responsible for reviewing and complying with any terms, attribution requirements or restrictions associated with the original source.

Rights in Hormuz Group’s original selection, organisation, structure, annotations, classifications, scoring, analysis and presentation are reserved.

8. Data Quality and Verification

Hormuz datasets may contain verified, reviewed, estimated, incomplete, historical or lower-confidence records.

Before relying on a record, users should review:

• verification_status;
• data_confidence;
• last_updated;
• timestamps and measurement periods;
• available source and methodology fields;
• warnings or limitations published on the canonical dataset page.

The absence of a warning does not guarantee completeness or accuracy.

9. No Professional Advice

Hormuz datasets are provided for research, information and commercial orientation.

They do not constitute:

• legal advice;
• financial or investment advice;
• tax advice;
• sanctions or export-control advice;
• compliance clearance;
• a recommendation to enter into a transaction.

Users are responsible for obtaining appropriate professional advice and conducting independent verification before making decisions.

10. No Warranty

The datasets are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hormuz Group makes no warranty regarding:

• accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose;
• uninterrupted availability;
• continued publication of a dataset;
• compatibility with a particular system;
• the absence of errors, omissions or delays.

Hormuz Group may correct, update, suspend or withdraw datasets at any time.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hormuz Group will not be liable for losses or damages arising from:

• reliance on a dataset;
• inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or unavailable information;
• decisions or transactions based on the data;
• use of third-party sources;
• interruption or modification of a data service.

Users remain responsible for independently evaluating whether a dataset is suitable for their intended use.

12. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use Hormuz datasets:

• for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive or abusive purposes;
• to evade sanctions, export controls or other applicable legal restrictions;
• to identify, target or harm individuals unlawfully;
• to falsely attribute statements or conclusions to Hormuz Group;
• in a manner that compromises the security, integrity or availability of Hormuz systems;
• in violation of applicable intellectual-property, database, privacy or contractual rights.

13. Changes to These Terms

Hormuz Group may update these terms when its datasets, distribution methods or legal requirements change.

The version and effective date shown at the top of this page identify the terms applicable to the current publication. Material changes will be reflected by an updated version number and effective date.

Continued use after an updated version takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Separate Agreements

A separate written agreement may grant additional rights, including:

• bulk access;
• commercial redistribution;
• API integration;
• data licensing;
• model training;
• custom research;
• enterprise use.

Where a separate written agreement applies, that agreement controls to the extent of any conflict with these general terms.
