Mining and quarrying of primary raw materials such as limestone, clay, shale, and iron ore.
Crushing, grinding, and blending of raw materials to achieve a homogeneous 'raw meal' or 'slurry' with the correct chemical composition.
The raw meal is heated in a preheater tower, where it undergoes calcination, removing carbon dioxide from the limestone.
The calcined material enters a rotary kiln where it is heated to extremely high temperatures (around 1450°C), causing chemical reactions and partial melting to form clinker nodules.
